George P. Bray
Bio
George P. Bray
Elected Paducah’s 40th Mayor in 2020, Mayor George Bray has combined a drive for job growth and economic development with fiscal accountability. As a cornerstone project, he helped lead the successful fund raising and construction of the new Barkley Regional Airport Terminal, the first in over 65 years. Reflecting fiscal responsibility under his leadership, the City of Paducah has had no need to raise taxes and is using its resources to partner with the McCracken County Fiscal Court for two new, large capital projects. The first focuses on both growth and quality of life through the new Paducah Sports Park, an outdoor sports complex targeting a growing sports tourism market, while the second replaces an obsolete 911 system with a state-of-the-art approach to better ensure the safety of the community. Understanding that a community only thrives with broad engagement, he has successfully supported greater diversity and minority inclusion across community projects and boards, and has been at the forefront of building and economic development projects to create greater opportunity.
